Energy Exchange opened in CommuniCore East on EPCOT Center's opening day as an Exxon-sponsored hands-on energy exhibit.

Disney's own A to Z entry reads: "Display in Communicore East at Epcot sponsored by Exxon, from October 1, 1982, to January 31, 1994. Computers helped tell about elements of the energy story." Wikipedia's CommuniCore article independently places the exhibit inside CommuniCore from the park's opening.

The exhibit was laid out as a hands-on games area whose stations included a blowout preventer display, a coal locator, a driving machine, a hundred-watt bulb crank and a video bicycle.
