Tarzan Rocks! took over the Theater in the Wild in July 1999, replacing the Jungle Book show with a rock-concert-style production of stunts, rollerblading and aerial work tied to Disney's Tarzan film.

Sources give three different debut days - Walt Dated World July 2, Laughing Place July 7, Wikipedia July 9 (citing contemporaneous Orlando Sentinel reporting) - so only the month is asserted. Tarzan Rocks! itself ran until January 21, 2006.

Disney historian Jim Korkis recorded that cast previews played with unfinished masks that left the performers' faces visible and that once the finished masks arrived for the debut the show seemed to lose that connection with the audience.

The show adapted Disney's animated The Jungle Book into a roughly 25-to-30-minute musical staged with "humanimals" - hybrid costumes combining live performers with puppetry, some holding two or more performers and some with human fronts and puppet rears - and ran up to ten times a day.
