The Marvel Alterniverse Store opened as the largest souvenir shop in Marvel Super Hero Island when Universal's Islands of Adventure officially opened (following a March 27, 1999 soft opening).

Construction walls went up in October 2023 for a round of Marvel Super Hero Island refurbishment that blocked most of the Alterniverse Store facade, though the store stayed open via a side entrance behind the giant Wolverine's claws.
