Universal permanently closed Treasures of Poseidon in May 2026 as it began demolishing The Lost Continent, which Universal announced in April 2026 would be torn down for a new themed area, with construction walls also appearing around the Mystic Fountain and the former Sindbad theater.
Treasures of Poseidon opened in 1999 with Universal's Islands of Adventure as a nautical/Universal-themed gift shop in The Lost Continent, sited at the exit of the Poseidon's Fury attraction and fronted by a roughly 17-foot bronzed merfolk-form Poseidon sculpture that holds the shop marquee, with its tail extending through the wall into the store.
