   Poseidon's Fury: Escape from the Lost City opened with Universal's Islands of Adventure as a walk-through special-effects show in the Lost City section of The Lost Continent, in which a guide called The Keeper recounted a battle between Zeus and Poseidon before revealing himself as Zeus.

   2001Changed

   Universal rewrote the show in 2001 based on guest polling data, replacing The Keeper and the Zeus storyline with an archaeologist guide named Taylor and a new villain, Darkenon, and recasting Poseidon as benevolent.

   2010Area Update

   Roughly half of The Lost Continent, including the Merlinwood section, was removed and rethemed for the original Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which opened in 2010, leaving Poseidon's Fury as one of the shrunken land's few remaining attractions.

   2020Nerf

   Poseidon's Fury did not return when Islands of Adventure reopened following the COVID-19 shutdown, and was reported in August 2021 as having been closed for more than a year as a pandemic cost-saving measure.

   Mar 2022Back Online

   Poseidon's Fury reopened in March 2022 after a refurbishment that repainted the exterior temple, replaced pipe work for the interior and exterior water features and improved several effects.

   Apr 11, 2023Update

   Universal announced on April 11, 2023 that Poseidon's Fury would close permanently, giving May 9 as the last day guests could experience it and saying the space would be prepared for "exciting new experiences for our guests."

   May 9, 2023Refurbishment

   Poseidon's Fury played its final performances on May 9, 2023 and was closed for good the following day, ending a run of just under 24 years with no replacement announced.

   Universal confirmed that the venues and experiences of The Lost Continent would permanently close in phases for an unannounced new themed land, with construction walls already blocking the former entrances to Poseidon's Fury and The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad.

   Jul 20, 2026Area Update

   Demolition of the Poseidon's Fury show building was underway by July 20, 2026, with the entrance trident and the Poseidon head sculpture largely removed and the rear of the structure split open, exposing the curved shell of the water vortex tunnel.
