Dockside Diner closed amid the COVID-19 shutdown of Walt Disney World and remained shuttered for roughly 17 months, staying closed even after Disney's Hollywood Studios reopened in July 2020.
Disney officially shortened the venue's name from 'Min and Bill's Dockside Diner' to simply 'Dockside Diner,' dropping the 1930 film reference while keeping the same menu.
Min and Bill's Dockside Diner opened with Disney-MGM Studios as an Echo Lake counter-service spot themed to a tramp steamer, named after the 1930 MGM film starring Marie Dressler and Wallace Beery.
