Test Track officially opened in the same pavilion on March 17, 1999 with The Assembly Experience, a new walk-through post-show, in the role the TransCenter had filled.
The TransCenter closed with World of Motion when the pavilion shut to guests on January 2, 1996.
Everything inside the pavilion's ride building was removed after the closure, and interior construction for Test Track began in the spring of 1996.
EPCOT announced in November 1995 that World of Motion, the pavilion housing the TransCenter, would be transformed into a new General Motors attraction called Test Track.
The TransCenter opened as the walk-through General Motors exhibit hall at the exit of World of Motion, the Future World pavilion that debuted with EPCOT Center on October 1, 1982.
Designed by Bob Rogers and BRC Imagination Arts, the TransCenter housed the animatronic show The Bird and the Robot, the Water Engine show, the Aerotest exhibit on airflow and fuel economy, a replica wind tunnel, and the Dreamer's Workshop displaying General Motors prototypes such as the Lean Machine.
