An exterior refurbishment of Discovery Trading Company began in September 2025, with green scrims and rolling planters blocking one set of entry doors while the shop remained open for business.
Mobile self-checkout via the My Disney Experience app was added at Discovery Trading Company in April 2022, letting guests scan and pay for merchandise on their phones.
Discovery Trading Company opened on March 15, 2016, taking over and replacing the former Disney Outfitters shop on Discovery Island after a refurbishment that walled the space off in January 2016.
