After reopening from the 2020 pandemic closure, the restaurant temporarily dropped a la carte service and offered only the all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style Patriot's Platter for both lunch and dinner (about $39 adults / $21 children).
In early 2009 (character dining ended January 5, 2009) Liberty Tree Tavern discontinued its long-running character dinner, in which Disney characters such as Goofy and Chip & Dale appeared in colonial costumes, converting to a character-free family-style dinner.
Liberty Tree Tavern opened with the rest of Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971, as an original Liberty Square table-service restaurant themed to Colonial-era America, with six dining rooms named for U.S. patriots such as Benjamin Franklin and Betsy Ross.
