Tomorrowland Terrace closed in September 1994 and reopened December 9, 1994 (per D23), reconcepted and renamed as Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café for the New Tomorrowland expansion.

Sonny Eclipse was temporarily removed from the stage in mid-March 2025 (missing by March 19), prompting fan concern, then returned by March 21, 2025.

The audio-animatronic lounge singer Sonny Eclipse — an alien from the planet Zork voiced by Kal David — debuted at the café in 1995 and became its signature entertainment.

The site opened on Magic Kingdom's first day, October 1, 1971, as the Coca-Cola-sponsored Tomorrowland Terrace — the largest fast-food operation at Walt Disney World at the time and the predecessor Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café would later replace.
