Refurbishment
The Hello Kitty Shop, along with the adjoining UNIVRS and Betty Boop stores, permanently closed in early September 2024, with black curtains installed over the storefront windows the week of September 4.

Universal removed the dedicated Hello Kitty/Sanrio theming through 2022, with the standalone Hello Kitty section closing in November 2022 and Sanrio merchandise folded into a blended store alongside Betty Boop and Universal-branded goods.

The Hello Kitty Shop opened in the Hollywood area of Universal Studios Florida in 2016 (soft-opened in late February, official debut March 31), taking over the space formerly occupied by the 'Lucy: A Tribute' Lucille Ball walkthrough.
