A second carousel began soft openings, creating the only double Dumbo: two counter-rotating carousels (one clockwise, one counterclockwise) that doubled the ride's capacity.
Reopened in soft openings in its relocated Storybook Circus home with a new color scheme, new soundtrack, film-scene base panels, and an air-conditioned big-top interactive queue with ticket pagers.
The original Fantasyland carousel closed for relocation into the new Storybook Circus area, built on the former Mickey's Toontown Fair site.
Rebuilt with a new ride mechanism and expanded from 10 to 16 elephants; Timothy's whip became a Magic Feather and his disco-ball perch became a hot-air balloon.
Opened with Magic Kingdom on opening day as an original Fantasyland attraction with a single carousel of 10 flying elephants.
