No source I could open gives SoundWorks its own final date, so this is year precision at medium confidence. Walt Dated World states "Sounds Dangerous ran from April 22, 1999-May 18, 2012"; Yesterland records the show's likely last actual operating day as May 1, 2011 and notes the seasonal attraction disappeared from park guidemaps in spring 2012. Yesterland confirms the closure was permanent by describing "Photo opportunities in the space that had been Soundworks" after the building reopened as Mickey Shorts Theater on March 4, 2020; a photo-op area is not a successor attraction, so no replaced_by is asserted.

SoundWorks opened as the walk-through postshow area of The Monster Sound Show, a Sony-presented attraction, on Disney-MGM Studios' opening day.

D23's Disney A to Z entry for Monster Sound Show states the attraction opened at Disney-MGM Studios on May 1, 1989, that "In the postshow area called Soundworks, guests can create their own sound effects, add their voices to classic movies, and enter the three-dimensional world of Soundsations," and that it was "Presented by Sony." Walt Dated World confirms the opening-day debut and that the show was sponsored by Sony; neither source attaches the sponsorship to the postshow separately, so the credit is stated for the attraction as a whole.
