Pilot Rick Harper, a 27-year-old cast member, was killed at the Epcot Center Ultralight Flightpark when a bracket joining his ultralight's right wing to the fuselage broke during a practice session and the aircraft nosedived.

The Flightpark, in Bay Lake, launched the show's aircraft. Wikipedia corroborates the date, the age and the structural failure but does not name the pilot, describing him only as a 27-year-old cast member from Winter Garden; the name comes from AllEars' Chronicles piece.
