The 2015 refurbishment reopening came with menu changes: a new Watermelon Salad replaced the Fruit Plate and a Jamaican Jerk Chicken Salad replaced the Smoked Chicken Salad, while ribs, chicken, and jumbo turkey legs remained the signature dishes.
After closing on January 5, 2015 for a multi-month refurbishment, Flame Tree Barbecue reopened June 30, 2015 with an extended roof over the ordering area and additional shade throughout its dining area.
Flame Tree Barbecue opened as a counter-service restaurant on opening day of Disney's Animal Kingdom, in the central land then called Safari Village (renamed Discovery Island in 2000).
