Mel's Drive-In reopened on February 27, 2024 after its roughly eight-month refurbishment with an overhauled interior, including new flooring, new booths, atomic-boomerang-pattern table tops, refreshed decor, and new team-member uniforms.
Mel's Drive-In's 2024 reopening menu added new items including the Big Bopper Burger Platter ($14.99; bacon, onion rings and BBQ sauce), a Crispy Chicken Sandwich Platter with avocado ranch ($12.99), and a Vegan Field Roast Chili Dog Platter ($10.99), with milkshake-combo upgrades up to $21.49.
With its 2024 refurbishment Mel's Drive-In replaced its multi-register counter and shifted primarily to mobile ordering via the Universal Orlando app, while still offering a staffed counter option for guests without the app.
Mel's Drive-In closed in late June 2023 for an interior refurbishment that lasted roughly eight months.
