In late January 2017 the restaurant reopened, reconcepted and renamed Planet Hollywood Observatory, reimagining the globe as a four-story stargazing observatory with a new outdoor terrace, a Stargazers Lounge, and a 4,500-square-foot 3D trompe-l'oeil video wall.
The reopened Observatory debuted a revamped menu with an over-the-top burger and sandwich section curated by celebrity chef Guy Fieri (including a Bacon Mac-n-Cheese Burger), alongside surviving Planet Hollywood classics and hand-dipped milkshakes.
The 21-year-old original Planet Hollywood globe closed in January 2016 for a multi-million-dollar renovation, transforming into Planet Hollywood Observatory as Downtown Disney evolved into Disney Springs.
