Lava Lounge opened as a no-reservation outdoor waterfront bar at the Rainforest Cafe in the Downtown Disney Marketplace (now Disney Springs Marketplace), created through a major exterior renovation of the restaurant.
The lounge debuted an exclusive menu beyond the full Rainforest Cafe offerings, including Krakatoa Flatbread ($10.99), Seaside Ceviche ($11.99), Polynesian Pot Stickers ($9.99) and specialty drinks around $9, plus a novelty $20 souvenir menu filled with flowing 'lava'.
The renovation added an erupting volcano atop the Rainforest Cafe building above the lounge that shoots fire and smoke roughly every 30 minutes as a signature themed effect.
